McCurdy School Board Members

Marilyn Martinez Peabody ‘71

Through the years, McCurdy School has been a great part of my life.
My husband, Troy Peabody, and I are alumni.  We graduated as part of the mighty class of 1971. I have been a High School Science Teacher and Math and Spanish Middle School Teacher at McCurdy for several years in the 1900s.  Ms. Dee Dee Heffner and I were co-cheerleading sponsors in 1993. I have also been a previous Board of Trustees Member in 1994-1996.

We moved to Chimayo in 1993 and a year later moved to Espanola so that our sons could attend McCurdy School. Troy and I believed that at McCurdy our sons would receive and earn a well rounded education- an education with a Christian emphasis.

We are grateful for our decision and proud of our two sons.  Greg Peabody and Thomas Peabody graduated in 1999 and 2001 respectively. Greg lives in Las Cruces, New Mexico, with his beautiful wife Pollyjean and their precious little bundle of joy, daughter Jolene- our first grandchild.  He is an electronics technician for the Department of Defense at White Sands and Pollyjean is a third grade teacher in Las Cruces, presently enjoying raising our granddaughter.  Thomas is a 2005 graduate of United States Military Academy at West Point, New York.  He is a First Lieutenant now stationed in Mosul, Iraq. Please keep our military in your prayers.

Currently, I am the Safety Coordinator for the Stockpile Manufacturing and Support Directorate at Los Alamos National Laboratories (LANL), Los Alamos, New Mexico. Troy is a shop foremen and works for KSL, a contractor for LANL

It is my great honor to serve as McCurdy’s President of the Board of Trustees. I look forward to a successful tenure as we work our Strategic Plans. I look forward to working with the rest of the Board Members, Dr. Fred Pomeroy, staff, volunteers, students and our community.

Pastor Bethany Carpenter
Bethany Carpenter is the Pastor at the Zia United Methodist Church in Santa Fe, NM.
Bethany Carpenter arrived in Santa Fe in June of 2006, to become the pastor at Zia United Methodist Church. Her Masters of Divinity is from Claremont School of
Theology, in Claremont, California. Prior to seminary, and undergraduate school at Cal St. L. A., she worked in a grocery store chain as a Service Deli  Manager, in a bank as a payment processing clerk, and in the Barnes and Noble cafe, making capuccinos.
Prior to living in beautiful downtown Burbank, Rev. Carpenter lived in Michigan, where she enjoyed semi-fame in the theaters of Detroit. Rev. Carpenterloves New Mexico, as the sky is such a wonderful reminder of God present among us, and because there is
weather here (California has boring weather), and mountains (Michigan has very small mountains). It is her prayer that McCurdy school will flourish in the love of Jesus, and by the strength of the Holy Spirit, to become the school intended by God all those many years ago.
