Anthony VanderVossen was born and raised in Espanola. He attended and graduated from McCurdy School. He is a lifelong resident of Espanola. He is married to Kathy and she also was born, raised and is a lifelong resident of Espanola. Kathy also graduated from McCurdy. Anthony is a first generation American on his fathers side. His father immigrated here as a child on a freighter during World War II and was processed into the United States through Ellis Island. Anthony is bilingual, able to speak both English and Spanish fluently. Anthony and Kathy have two children; Meg is an 11th grader here at McCurdy and Bryan is an 8th grader also at McCurdy. Both kids have attended McCurdy since kindergarden. In fact Anthony was one of Tina Cordova and Sophie Silberman's favorite "helpers" while Meg was in Kindergarden, he received a 'Diploma' when Meg was finished with her school year. Anthony and Kathy own and operate their own business in Espanola. It has been in the family since Kathy's parents started it in 1954. Maybe Meg or Bryan will return to Espanola with a college degree in hand and take over the family business. Anthony enjoys giving back to the community that has been and continues to be so generous to him, he volunteers several positions, such as coaching since 1998 and currently assists coaching at McCurdy with softball, State Runners Up In 2007!!! He also assists Middle School Football. He is a licensed Coach through the NMAA and is passionate in his love of competition.
Roberto A. De Vargas, born January 6, 1957, to the parents of Sabanita and Gumersindo De Vargas Jr. He graduated in 1981 from New Mexico State University with a Bachelors in Business Adminstration and Economics. He is a life long resident of New Mexico and lives in Abiquiu. Robert has been married for 25 wonderful years to Judy A. De Vargas. They have two children: Ron age 13 attending Mc Curdy Middle School and Maria age seven attending Abiquiu Elementary. Robert retired October 31, 2006 from the Department of Transportation with 25 years of service. During his tenure with the department, his expertise was in accounting, budgets, and statistics. During the 2006 and 2007 school year at Mc Curdy, hr coached the Boy's Middle School Football, Basketball, and was Assistant Coach for the Boy's Varsity Football team. He is currently the Co-Head Coach for the Boy's Varsity Baseball Team. In addition, he volunteers his time for the past 15 years coaching Little League and AABC Baseball in Santa Fe and Espanola Valley. Robert loves the outdoors, farming, hiking, camping, hunting and fishing and is an avid fly fishermen which he learned from his parents. He spends most of his time fly fishing in the Chama and Tierra Amarilla area.
